Ghana Navy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) to strengthen professional engineering practice through certification, Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and institutional collaboration at the Naval Headquarters on Friday 31 July 2026.The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, was hopeful about the partnership, noting the Ghana Navy faces challenges in the area of electrical engineering. He said the collaboration would help build capacity in the field and expressed optimism to a productive and enduring relationship between the two institutions.
In response, the President of the GhIE, Ing. Ludwig Annang Hesse, said the partnership would provide a structured pathway for Ghana Navy engineering personnel to obtain professional certification in line with the Engineers Council Act. He stated that the collaboration would facilitate the registration and certification of naval engineering practitioners while providing access to accredited CPD programmes required for the renewal of professional licences. The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Logistics Command (NAVLOC), Commodore Eric Osei, described the MoU as a significant milestone that would strengthen the professional development of engineering personnel. He expressed confidence that the partnership would promote engineering excellence, ensure compliance with national engineering regulations and create lasting benefits for both institutions.The MoU is expected to deepen collaboration between the Ghana Navy and GhIE in advancing professional standards, capacity building and engineering excellence within the Armed Forces.
