The Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore Ben Baba Abdul, has urged newly promoted naval officers to continue upholding the honour of the Ghana Navy and the nation by demonstrating integrity, discipline and loyalty in the professional discharge of their duties.
He made the remark while representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, as the Guest of Honour at a Stripe-Wetting Ceremony held for the newly promoted naval officers at the Wardroom in Accra on Thursday 30 July 2026.
Stripe-Wetting Ceremony is a naval tradition that symbolises the official recognition and acceptance of newly promoted naval officers into their new ranks through the ceremonial wetting of their newly earned stripes. The ceremony serves as a reminder of new responsibility, leadership and accountability, and an opportune time to strengthen camaraderie amongst officers.
Commodore Abdul further noted that promotion was not merely a recognition of past achievements but also a call to greater responsibility. He added that every rank reflects courage, seamanship, dedication to service and professionalism. He congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotions and urged them to uphold the trust placed in them through selfless service and unwavering commitment to duty.
