The engagements focused on identifying infrastructure and equipment requirements to strengthen the operational, administrative and logistical capabilities of the respective Commands. Discussions centred on the renovation of selected facilities, the provision of equipment and the development of an enabling environment for effective naval operations, training and maintenance.
As part of the visits, the Head of Mission toured selected facilities, including the Mechanical Transport Yard, Computer Laboratory, Library and classrooms under WNC, as well as the Naval Shipyard Complex and Ghana Navy Stores Base under NAVLOC. The tours provided an opportunity to assess existing facilities and identify areas requiring renovation, upgrading and additional equipment support.
The FOC NAVLOC and Commodore Superintendent also briefed the Head of Mission on ongoing and proposed projects aimed at improving infrastructure and strengthening operational and maintenance capabilities. The Head of Mission indicated that proposed projects would be considered under GAFTAG's next four-year project cycle.
The engagements underscored the importance of sustained international defence cooperation in strengthening institutional capacity, improving naval logistics and maintenance, and enhancing the operational readiness of the Ghana Navy.
