Personnel of Western Naval Command (WNC) have been sensitised on suicide awareness and prevention as part of efforts to promote psychological wellbeing and strengthen suicide prevention awareness within the Ghana Armed Forces. The sensitisation, held at the Harry Seshie Drill Shed on Wednesday 16 September 2026, was organised by 2 Garrison under the theme, “Changing the Narratives on Suicide.”
The 2 Garrison Psychologist, Mr Dacosta Wereko, who facilitated the session, focused on creating awareness about suicide, addressing misconceptions and encouraging personnel to engage in open and supportive conversations about emotional and psychological challenges. He encouraged personnel to recognise warning signs, take concerns about the wellbeing of colleagues seriously and seek professional assistance when necessary and also emphasised on the importance of early intervention, active listening and providing support to persons experiencing difficulties.
