Ghana Navy and the United States (US) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defence and maritime security cooperation.
This came to the fore during a courtesy call paid by the new US Defence Attache to Ghana, Lieutenant Colonel Frank C Zastoupil, at the Naval Headquarters on Wednesday 12 August 2026.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing expressed appreciation for the longstanding support from the US, particularly in personnel training, maritime domain awareness, infrastructure and operational support.
He further indicated that the U.S. would engage relevant Ghanaian authorities to facilitate the acquisition of V-BAT drones, which are expected to enhance Ghana’s maritime surveillance and intelligence-gathering capabilities.
