The Tema Regional Commander of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Mr Eric Asiedu Asamoah, accompanied by his deputy, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ms Yvonne Cyndi Osei, paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, on Wednesday 22 July 2026 at the Naval Base, Tema.
This visit was to formally introduce DCOP Asamoah as the newly appointed Tema Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service. It also served as a broader initiative to enhance coordination between the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Navy, aiming to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and explore mutual interests to improve security in the Tema.
During the engagement, DCOP Asamoah presented an overview of regional operations and emphasised the necessity of robust collaboration between the two institutions. He noted that the strategic location of Tema, along with its corresponding security requirements, makes the establishment of strong partnerships with agencies such as the Navy essential for proactive and effective policing.
In response, Commodore Asiedu-Larbi extended his congratulations to the Regional Commander on his recent appointment and underscored the vital importance of sustained collaboration between the Navy and the Police Service. He acknowledged that the Tema area faces various maritime and land-based threats that necessitate a unified response for effective management. Additionally, he affirmed the Navy’s commitment to supporting the Police in ensuring safety and security within Tema and its environs to enhance cooperation, capacity-building, and intelligence sharing.
