The Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, has paid a courtesy call on the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command (WNC), Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, on Monday, 16 March 2026.
The visit took place at the Western Naval Command headquarters as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between Spain and Ghana in the maritime and naval sectors.
The Flag Officer Commanding, (FOC) Western Naval Command (WNC), Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, warmly welcomed the Ambassador and his delegation. The purpose of the visit was to enhance coordination and operational cooperation, strengthen bilateral relations, and discuss support for the repair of selected Ghana Navy ships.
During the visit, the Commanding Officer of the Western Naval Base, Commander Charles Darkwah, led the delegation to pay a courtesy visit on the Western Regional Minister, Hon Joseph Nelson. The Minister warmly received the team, expressing his appreciation for the cooperation and friendship between Spain and Ghana and highlighting the importance of continued partnership. The Ambassador noted that the world is defined by globalisation, stressing the importance of international cooperation to address maritime security.
The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Susana Santos, the Captain of the Ship, Captain Angel Garcia Estrada, Lieutenant Francisco Lamds Lopez, and Mr Luis Veral, Economic Officer at the Embassy of Spain.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both Ghana and Spain to strengthen maritime security cooperation and deepen diplomatic relations.
The Ambassador and his entourage were later hosted to a cocktail dinner at the Navy Wardroom.
