The School of Maritime Operations (SMOPS) has held a closing ceremony to officially conclude the Military Advance Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) Course 2/26 on Friday 14 August 2026 at the SMOPS Auditorium, Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor. The course aimed at enhancing the operational knowledge and practical competencies of participants in conducting maritime interdiction and VBSS operations. Participants were taken through advanced boarding procedures, operational planning, tactical approaches, safety measures, search techniques, team coordination, and other essential aspects of maritime security operations.
The training provided participants with practical exposure to the complexities of maritime interdiction operations and strengthened their ability to work effectively as teams in addressing maritime security threats.
In his closing remarks, the Representative of the Danish Embassy, Mr Benjamin Serebour, commended the participants for their commitment throughout the training. He reaffirmed the Embassy's commitment to supporting maritime security capacity building. He urged them to maintain the good relationships developed during the course even after returning to their respective units, noting that continued cooperation and teamwork were essential to strengthening maritime security.
