Personnel of the Western Naval Command (WNC), Naval Logistics Command (NAVLOC) and Headquarters Fleet gathered at the Harry Seshie Drill Shed, Naval Base Sekondi, on Sunday, 28 June 2026, for the Joint Second Quarter Religious Service under the theme, "United in Purpose, Empowered for Service." The occasion also featured the induction of the newly elected Command Magajia, Mrs Barbara Akoto, and the Executive Members of the Naval Wives Association (NAWA), WNC Branch.
Delivering the sermon, Reverend Patience Addai of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Sekondi, encouraged personnel and their families to remain united in their pursuit of excellence and service to God and humanity. She emphasised that unity, faith and commitment were essential to personal growth, family stability and institutional success, urging participants to rely on God's guidance in overcoming challenges and making meaningful contributions to society.
The Guest of Honour, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Sekondi-Takoradi, Honourable Frederick Faidoo Esq., underscored the importance of unity, dedication and integrity in service. He commended the outgoing Command Magajia and her executive members for their exemplary service and encouraged the newly inducted executives to build upon their achievements. He further urged all personnel to remain committed to unity of purpose, selfless service and dependence on God in advancing the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Navy and national development.
The Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of teamwork, professionalism and collective responsibility in achieving the Command's objectives. He congratulated the newly inducted executives and wished both the outgoing and incoming Command Magajias success in their respective endeavours. On behalf of the new executives, Mrs Barbara Akoto expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in her team and pledged to promote the welfare of naval families while strengthening unity within the Association.
The ceremony featured the presentation of citations and gifts to the outgoing Command Magajia, Mrs Cecilia Obuadey, who served for a decade, and her executive members in recognition of their dedicated service to the Naval Wives Association and the Ghana Navy. The event concluded with prayers for the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Navy and the nation, reaffirming the commitment of personnel and their families to unity, service and national development.
