Headquarters Fleet (HQ Fleet) organised a one-day training programme on Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defence (NBCD) and Damage Control for its personnel on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, at the Harry Seshie Drill Shed, Sekondi Naval Base.
The training was aimed at equipping personnel with the requisite knowledge and practical skills to effectively respond to emergencies, particularly fires and other hazardous incidents that may occur onboard ships during naval operations.
During the session, participants were taken through various procedures and techniques for detecting, preventing and responding to nuclear, biological and chemical threats, as well as managing damage control situations that could compromise the safety and integrity of naval vessels.
The training also placed significant emphasis on firefighting drills. Demonstrations were conducted on appropriate methods for combating fires onboard ships, including the proper use of firefighting equipment, containment procedures and coordinated team responses during emergencies. Personnel further participated in practical demonstrations and simulation exercises to enhance their readiness.
The exercise forms part of the Ghana Navy’s continuous efforts to build a highly skilled and responsive force capable of effectively managing emergencies while safeguarding lives, equipment and platforms during maritime operations.
