The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, led a delegation from the Ghana Navy Hydrographic Unit to pay a courtesy call on the Western Regional Surveyor, Surveyor Isaac Quayson, on Wednesday, 25 March 2026.
The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and promote professional engagement between the Ghana Navy and key national geospatial institutions. Discussions focused on exploring areas of cooperation, particularly in hydrographic surveying, geospatial data support, and capacity building.
In his remarks, the Regional Surveyor warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the Ghana Navy for establishing the Hydrographic Unit, describing it as both timely and of strategic national importance. He reaffirmed the Survey Department’s commitment to supporting the Unit, particularly in technical collaboration and survey operations in the Western Region.
Commodore Ayelazono expressed appreciation for the reception and emphasised the importance of partnership in developing national hydrographic capability. He noted that the Unit remained focused on building sustainable survey capacity to support maritime safety, coastal development, and national security.
