The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, has deepened maritime security cooperation between the Ghana Navy and international partners at the G7++ Friends of the Gulf of Guinea (G7++FOGG) Security Meeting in Paris, held from April 15 to 16, 2026.
He attended the high-level forum alongside the Deputy Minister for Defence, Honourable Ernest Brogya Genfi, where G7 nations and partner states focused on coordinated strategies to enhance maritime stability across West and Central Africa.In an engagement with the French Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Bessing highlighted ongoing Ghana Navy operations supported through cooperation with France, including joint patrols, maritime surveillance, training exchanges, hydrographic collaboration, and coordinated regional exercises. He underscored Ghana’s commitment to deepen capacity building, strengthen riverine and hydrographic capabilities, and enhance operational readiness through initiatives aimed at improving professional competence, resilience of naval personnel, and maritime domain awareness across the Gulf of Guinea.The engagement reinforced Ghana’s commitment to sustained international collaboration aimed at strengthening maritime security and ensuring stability across the Gulf of Guinea.
