The Ghana Navy and Zambia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening defence collaboration following a courtesy visit by the Zambian Defence Attaché to Ghana, Colonel Brian Kandiwa Moyo, to the Naval Headquarters on Thursday 23 July 2026.
The Chief Staff Officer (CSO), Commodore Ben Baba Abdul, welcomed the Defence Attaché on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing.
During the engagement, Colonel Moyo formally introduced himself as the new Zambian Defence Attaché to Ghana and conveyed warm greetings from the President of Zambia, His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema. He also reaffirmed Zambia's commitment to strengthening defence collaboration with the Ghana Navy and building on the longstanding relations between the two countries.
Colonel Moyo acknowledged the significant contribution of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) to the professional development of personnel of the Zambian Defence Force. He noted that the training programmes have enhanced strategic leadership within the force.
The CSO commended Colonel Moyo's predecessor for his contribution to strengthening defence collaboration between Ghana and Zambia. He described the historic ties between Ghana and Zambia as enduring and expressed confidence in Colonel Moyo's ability to further strengthen defence collaboration between the two countries.
Commodore Abdul underscored the need for sustained engagement to broaden cooperation beyond military training and strengthen collaboration in support of peace, security and development. He assured Colonel Moyo of the Ghana Navy's readiness to provide the necessary support in the discharge of his duties and wished him success in his appointment.
