The Chief Staff Officer (CSO) at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore Ben Baba Abdul, has lauded Sub-Lieutenant (Sub Lt) Rebecca Owusu, a Senior Midwifery Officer at the 37 Military Hospital, for contributing meaningfully to literature, describing the works as impactful in promoting resilience, self-belief, and determination.
He made the remarks during the launch of the dual books titled “When Life Says No, Say Yes to Yourself” and “Overcoming Life's Challenges as a Man” at the Burma Hall in Burma Camp on Thursday 18 June 2026, where he noted that the publications were poised to inspire readers to transform challenges into opportunities and remain steadfast in their pursuits.
The event also aimed to raise support for the Ghana Armed Forces Special Needs Facility Project, which is designed to provide structured, inclusive education tailored specifically for children with special needs for military families.
The CSO, representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, who was the chairperson for the launch, commended the author for the achievement, attributing it to her commitment and dedication.
Representing the Special Guest of Honour for the launch, Honourable Professor Joshua Alabi, his wife, Professor Mrs Goski Alabi, congratulated Sub Lt Owusu for the achievement and commended her for producing works that reflect deep insight and personal experience, describing them as highly inspiring and relevant to contemporary society.
In her remarks, Sub Lt Owusu expressed gratitude to all supporters and contributors for the encouragement and recognition extended to her during the launch. She noted that the initiative, which was born out of real-life experiences, seeks to inspire young people to remain hopeful and resilient in the face of life’s challenges, while also encouraging them to pursue personal growth and purpose.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Rear Admiral Maxwell Arhen, and the Nifahene of Ejura, Nana Osei Kwadwo Ansebie II, as well as other senior military officers and distinguished guests.
