Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), unveiled his strategic vision for the Ghana Navy during a five-day visit to the Western Naval Command from 16–20 July 2025. He emphasised the importance of maritime security, force readiness, professional development, support for the blue economy, and international partnerships. He called for discipline and teamwork.
He acknowledged the existing challenges faced by Ghana Navy but praised personnel's resilience and loyalty. As part of the visit, the CNS toured key locations including the Forward Operating Base Ezinlibo, Jewi Wharf, Navy Lodge, Ghana Navy Supply Base, Issah Yakubu Villa and Kweikuma, Sekondi.
He was accompanied by the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Commodore S Ayelazono, Flag Officer Commanding Naval Logistics, Commodore E Osei, Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore BB Abdul, the Flag Officer Commanding Riverine Command and Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Operations /Training), Commodore SB Nyam, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Policy and Plans), Commodore R Bagoniah and staff officers from the Naval Headquarters.
