The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, hosted a farewell dinner in honour of the outgoing Zambian Defence Attaché to Ghana and Dean of the Defence Attachés/Advisers Association of Ghana, Brigadier General Derek Mbolela Mwendaofo. The event took place at Anchor House on Thursday, 2 April 2026.
The occasion highlighted the close military fraternity and enduring friendship that continue to promote collaboration in security, training, and regional stability between the armed forces of Ghana and Zambia.
The CNS expressed appreciation for the solidarity and professional camaraderie cultivated over the years with members of the Defence Attachés and Advisors Association in Ghana. He emphasised that such engagements play a vital role in strengthening cooperation, fostering mutual understanding, and enhancing collaboration among partner armed forces.
Rear Admiral Bessing further noted that Brigadier General Mwendaofo had completed his tour of duty in Ghana. He commended the Zambian officer for his loyalty, fairness, and dedication, and wished him success in his next assignment while reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with Zambia.
In his farewell remarks, Brigadier General Mwendaofo expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation he received during his tenure and reaffirmed the strong defence partnership between the two countries. A toast proposed by Naval Captain Kpesenu and the exchange of souvenirs marked the occasion, symbolising the continued commitment of both nations to strengthening defence cooperation.
