The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) William Agyapong paid his maiden visit to the Naval Headquarters on Wednesday 7 May 2025 to familiarise himself with the operations of the Ghana Navy.
During the visit, the CDS inspected a Guard mounted in his honour, after which he interacted with the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, the Chief Staff Officer of the Navy, Deputy Chief Staff Officers, Directors and other key appointment holders at the Naval Headquarters. 
The CDS later received joint briefings by representatives of the three arms of Service ; Army, Navy and the Air Force at the Faidoo Hall.
Rear Admiral Bessing, as part of the visit presented a plaque and a Ghana Navy Kente stole to the CDS as a gesture of goodwill and solidarity between them.
Lt Gen Agyapong was appointed as the CDS on 24 March 2025, by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.
